Shows to Watch

Walking Dead
I've actually only caught a couple episodes but now that season 1 is on Netflix it's time to catch up.  Intrigued so far but I'm not normally a zombie show/film person.  Mostly because they typically focus on gore and the substance can go by the wayside.

Community
I finally started watching this show, yes I know it's in the 3rd season, and I cannot stop watching this show.  I've burned through the first two seasons in the last two weeks.  Almost fully caught up.  Abed is obviously the best character.  He makes awesome film and tv show references and it would be awesome if that's how he was in real life.  Although, I know that's not true.  Sadness.

Favorite Episode, Season 1, Episode 7 - Introduction to Statistics:  Crazy Halloween party, Pierce takes pills he shouldn't and loses his mind, Abed dresses like Batman while speaking in the ridiculous Christian Bale voice.

Weirdest Episode, Season 2, Episode 14 - Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: This episode was kind of a downer.  Pierce takes his dick attitude and senility to new lows as he once again ruins everything.  Such a strange episode.

3 Things With Mystical Powers

1) Pho - This Vietnamese soup has mystical powers of healing.  If you have to eat soup because of a recent trip to the dentist, Pho will always be there to taste delicious and heal your wounds.  Also great for hangovers.

2) White Pants and Shorts - Something about white pants or shorts just makes women's asses look amazing.  There has to be someone in the stores who regulates the women who are allowed to purchase these items because I don't think I've ever seen an unattractive ass exploiting the power of white pants and shorts.

3)My Vehicle - It has almost 200,000 miles on it and I'm pretty sure it's currently running on hopes and dreams.  There really is no good explanation for why my car is still running but it is and I like it that way.

WTF Resumes?

Wtf is up with resumes?  You have to phrase everything a certain way to make people want you, it's like trying to pick up a girl at a bar.  You're buying drinks, spouting off these and giving that shit eating grin of yours in hopes she'll ring you up for a phone conversation (phone interview) that may or may not lead to her allowing you to buy dinner and even MORE drinks (in person interview) so maybe you might have a chance to make a move at the exact right time allowing you an opportunity to score.  (possible offer?)

The atmosphere at work continues to degrade.  There has been more layoffs and a benefits reduction recently. AWESOME!!  (Totally not awesome).  I have been applying for jobs recently, still not sure about this resume thing.  I've always had the hardest time putting together a resume I thought was good.  The resume I have now is alright.  I guess I'll use what I have for now and keep working on the resume at the same time.  I've gotten several e-mail from companies in the same city I currently live and work.  Sorry companies, I want to move.  I've contacted some and let them know this as they were nationwide companies.

Things have gone back to mundane with the ladies.  Not really any legitimate prospects but good times are being had when possible.  There has been very loose contact with the one that moved away, not sure if anything will ever come of that but might as well keep the lines of communication open.

Seriously, sweet potato fries and/or tots are an abomination.  They don't belong anywhere near my regular fries and tots.  Somebody please strike them down and send them back to hell where they belong.

Mounting Dissatisfaction

Quick post before I'm off to bed.  It's been an odd last two or three weeks.  I just kind of feel awkward much of the time because my dissatisfaction with my current situation is mounting.  Unfortunately, the job market isn't incredibly lucrative at the moment.  My work experience at my current employer has been very mixed which hasn't given me any particular specialty.  This makes it tough to meet the requirements for jobs when they want a certain amount of experience.  I have some experience in many areas but not a ton in one so it's a bit frustrating.  I will be applying for jobs I feel I'm close in most of the requirements and see what happens.

I'm Done With This Place

Seems the well is all dried up for quality women in the desert southwest.  Spent a few years here and found one , and only one, and as previously mentioned she's gone a week after I met her.  My job is no longer challenging or satisfying either and I was over the desert a while back.  Time to move on.  Official, hardcore job search begins.

Timing is Everything, Poor Timing Leads to Nothing

If you've read some of my previous posts I've spoken of some bad experiences with women.  Based on previous experiences, I'm certainly much more discerning (read: picky) about who I date and I haven't been interested in a relationship with anybody I've met in my current city even though I've been here for several years.  That all changed, at least for the week (timeline not of my choosing).

Last weekend I met some friends out and I was introduced to someone I'd never met or heard about before.  A girl who immediately struck me as fun and attractive.  I happen to like fun and attractive.  In the midst of hanging out in the group we talked to each other quite a bit, had an excellent time and she gave me her number (before I could even ask) and told me we should hang out.  And then she told me she's moving out of state in a couple weeks.  I thought, "Alright, we'll hang out anyway.  Might as well have a good time while she's here."  We had dinner a couple nights, drinks on several occasions and before I knew it the week was gone and so was she.  We had such a great time but the timing was incredibly poor.

I'm disappointed in the situation.  Finally, there is a young woman who is intelligent, attractive, fun and many other things I value when dating, and she is moving far, far away.  It just plain sucks.  I suppose I should be encouraged knowing that there are still women out there who meet (in this case, exceeds by a large margin) my standards and desires for someone I'd like to date.  Fun while it lasted.  Now back to the regularly scheduled programming.

Update: Monday - Seriously, this fucking sucks. If I were a bettin man, I'd put a lot of money on "Never going to see her again"

Update: Thursday - A few beers and some perspective certainly helps.  Still sucks but not as much as it did Monday.  This situation mixed with work and the mediocrity of the rest of my current social life have combined to make this week crappy.  I'm still fighting to salvage what I can from this week and I believe I have a good shot at an upturn tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Nuggets of Wisdom and Hilarity

A few things I've heard recently that I thought were worthwhile, funny or both:
Sometimes, not always but sometimes, it helps to know what you're doing.

The we people could get with a degree in the field C students so we often looked elsewhere.  We found hiring someone who excelled at something, anything, and training them was better than hiring someone who spent 4 years proving they just didn't get it.

Conversation I heard at a bar:
"Yeah, she's really hot and actually really nice, but she is CRAZY!"
"If I had tits like that it'd drive me crazy too."
